Game Wednesday - Arcade games

Hey game people

How did you like the list of games that were previewed so far? Well this time it will be entirely on the games featured in the arcades. What were some favourite arcade games that you enjoyed back from the 90’s? To name a few, metal slug would be on top five in my list certainly!

Metal slug (1996)

Metal slugs was one of the classic run and gun type of game. The game was quite simple, it involved the player to progress through stages, in which you had to kill all the enemy to reach the end. While progressing, there would be constant enemy charging at you at each level. Every time you killed an enemy they would have dropped an item. Like extra guns to add to you arsenal of weapons, maybe some ammo to refill or health. If you were in trouble, no problem! Second player will come to the rescue!

Sunset Rider (1991)

Reach for the skies! Sunset riders a game where you shoot down all those baddies that hit up on the wanted posters. Being the bounty hunter, you’re given a list of characters to up to four, each of them having different gun sets. For example, there was Steve and billy who uses the revolver. Whereas bob is armed with a rifle and Cormano (popular) uses the shotgun.

Street fighter 2: The World Warrior (1991)

Street fighter 2 became the most played fighting arcade game in the 90’s, this even led to other fighting games adopting similar style to street fighter. What was cool about street fighter 2, is the extra choices of characters added. Originally there was only 2 which was Ryu and Ken as the main characters. But SF2 has included an extra 6 characters from different backgrounds available. Furthermore, after every third match had a bonus stage. You could gain extra points by breaking barrels, cars and drums!

Crazy taxi (1999)

The arcade version that came out in 1999 was an open world driving game. The task required you to pick up passengers and drive to their destinations to earn money and points. The driving was quite fast and dangerous, there will be some minor crashes but it didn't really do any damage. The best parts of the game was doing the stunts. When driving over a ramp you could do stunts with the passenger in the car, this gave you more points.
